How to Copy-Paste on Android

Android supports cut / copy / paste, just like on a traditional computer, but to access these features, you need to move in a different way than you are accustomed to.

Copy and Paste Generic Text

If you want to copy a word, sentence, paragraph, or other text from a web page, from the message, or from another source, follow the steps below.

  1. Touch a word in the section you want to copy and keep your finger pressed for a moment. The two small tears on both sides will be highlighted with the handle and a pop-up menu will appear.
  2. Drag and drop one or both of the handles by dragging to highlight and select the text you want to copy.
  3. Touch Copy in the pop-up menu.
  4. Go to the application you want to paste the copied text, such as Messenger or an email application. Open the e-mail, message or window you want to use.
  5. Touch and hold the text field you want to paste the text into.
  6. Touch Paste in the pop-up menu that appears to paste the text.

Copy and Paste Web Site Linking
Copying the address of a website is similar to copying basic text on an Android device.

  1. Go to the web site where you want to connect to your browser.
  2. Press and hold the web address in the address bar until the pop-up menu appears.
  3. Touch Copy.
  4. Go to the application where you want to paste the copied link, such as Messenger or an email application.
  5. Open the e-mail, message or window you want to use.
  6. Touch and hold the text field where you want to paste the link.
  7. From the pop-up menu that appears, touch Paste and paste the link.

Copy and Paste Special Characters To copy and paste
a symbol or other special character, it must be text based. If this is an image, you will not be able to

The Cut and Paste on Android
option will appear in the drop-down menu if you select text you have written or edited (for example, in an email or in a message). Follow these steps to cut the text.

  1. Touch a word in the section you want to cut, hold your finger in a moment for a moment. The word will be highlighted with two small tears.
  2. Both sides will hold the shape and a pop-up menu will appear.
  3. Mark and hold one or two handles, drag to highlight and select the text you want to cut.
  4. Touch the Cut button in the pop-up menu.
  5. Go where you want to paste the cut text.
  6. Touch and hold the text field you want to paste the text into.
  7. To paste the text, touch Paste in the pop-up menu.

Why can not I copy? 
Note that not all applications support text copy-paste. If the app has a web-based version like Facebook or Twitter, try accessing it via your mobile browser instead.
